About Samaritans of Texas

Who We Are

Samaritans of Texas is a community-based nonprofit serving individuals and families across Williamson County and Central Texas who are facing hardship, crisis, or instability.

We exist to meet people at their most vulnerable moments—providing practical, dignity-centered support, restoring hope, and helping families regain stability when life takes an unexpected turn.

Rooted in faith and guided by compassion, we serve not as outsiders, but as neighbors—stepping in when systems fall short and when help is needed now.

Why We Exist

The Growing Need for Compassionate Support in Williamson County

Williamson County is experiencing one of the fastest population growth surges in Texas. Since 2020, more than 150,000 new residents have arrived, pushing the population beyond 750,000—and the numbers continue to climb.

Growth brings opportunity—but it also brings strain.

As housing costs rise, wages struggle to keep pace, and support systems are stretched thin, more individuals and families are finding themselves one unexpected crisis away from instability. Many are new to the area, lack extended family nearby, and do not know where to turn when hardship strikes.

The Reality on the Ground

Across Williamson County, we are seeing:

  • Families priced out of housing and living on the edge of displacement

  • Working individuals facing crisis due to illness, job disruption, or unexpected expenses

  • Seniors and caregivers struggling with isolation and unmet basic needs

  • Individuals experiencing homelessness not by choice, but by circumstance

These are not statistics alone. They are neighbors, coworkers, parents, and children—people who need help now, not months from now.

Why We Were Founded

Samaritans of Texas was founded in response to this growing need—not as a replacement for existing services, but as a compassionate safety net for those who fall through the cracks.

We exist to help close the gap between crisis and stability by responding quickly, locally, and with care—meeting people where they are and walking alongside them during difficult seasons.

Why It Matters—Right Now

As Williamson County continues to grow, the gap between need and available support continues to widen. Without timely intervention, temporary hardship can quickly become long-term crisis.
